Hidden Sounds of London Bridge Station

from Hidden Sounds of Architecture by Simon James

/

about

Recorded at the Grimshaw Architects designed London Bridge Station using electromagnetic microphones to uncover the hidden electronic waves that permeate every inch of this huge public structure. From the mechanical ticket gates and trains themselves, to the now ubiquitous mobile phones and information displays; these electronic waves are everywhere. Contact microphones unearth the strange, alien rhythms of the escalators, possibly one of my favourite contact microphone recordings.

Created for an Architects' Journal film by Jim Stephenson. See the film here - vimeo.com/385784799
